Short Story - Future Technologies

My name is Steven Declan, I will tell you how the human race has fallen. The year is 2033, and the human race has never before reached such technological advances, during the last 15 years there has been extensive work going into holograms and interacting with holograms. They worked very hard to no avail, 13 years and they couldn’t figure it out, they already knew how to deploy holograms just not how to interact with them.
Then 1 year and 7 months ago, a genius by the name of Jeremy Wrinkle, made a huge step forward into the holographic industry, he had discovered a way to add touch sensors to the hologram in a way that we could interact with them. This man is the one that had doomed us to extinction by doing this.
He had discovered a way that allows the user to touch somewhere on the hologram, and the hologram itself registers that point of touch feeds it to the processor inside it and then the processor would react by triggering the response to the certain point being touched. When the first prototype was showed, everyone was astounded by the results that have been produced, there was finally a breakthrough they needed so desperately, but none of us knew what it would bring.
When it comes to life there have been some interesting discoveries have been made in machinery used in hospitals and clinics, we now have machines that using a blood sample can check, categorise if there is any diseases in the blood, create profiles for patients that can be checked quickly by doctors on their new holographic watches which store information about all the patients that currently reside in the hospital.
The holographic watches work by interacting with a counter part on the patients’ medical chart, which has basic information about the patient, as well as a holograph, they interact with each other and in a matter of seconds the patients file is pulled up on the holograph, it has made dire situations a lot easier since during emergencies, the doctor only has to pull up their file to see what would be the problem instead of trying to guess it. After all some good has come of this whole affair.
When the holograms were first released, everybody loved them, interacted with them. Then the events happened, the holograms were input into military grade robots to power them and make them move fluidly like humans, Jeremy just did not stop. The robots were released and replaced our police force, I was a police officer at the time and losing my badge to that thing could not be more infuriating.
Eventually they developed, a part of their programming was somehow altered to break free of our commands and rise themselves, and at this point we found out the truth about Jeremy, he was part machine, he was in the war a long time ago and he lost half of his body which was replaced with machinery, he became their ruler. Spouting something about no more wars, no more need for fighting. The robots were apparently our chance at a better life.

I’m one of the ‘bad guys’ now, I lead fight to take back our home, the resistance is under my command and our aim is to destroy the machines that have poisoned our way of life. There is not many humans left around, but the ones that are still living in the rubbles of our once great civilisation, continue the fight for our freedom. Soon we will be ready, to take the fight to the leader himself, Jeremy Wrinkle better watch out, his robots have no chance.
