Skills for the Future

When thinking about future jobs or possible career paths, the core item that needs to be always analysed when thinking about the future is, what skills do you have that make you unique?

Employers tend to look for skills that make you, someone that they would like to invest their time and resources into so that you can grow into a better version of yourself. There are many different areas you need to look at when analysing your skills. Such as;

  • Teamwork - How capable are you at working in a large group or team?
  • Problem Solving - Can you overcome simple problems and find better ways to do them?
  • Communication - Do you talk in a way that, the recipient can understand you clearly?
  • IT Skills - How good are you at using IT to do the job you need to do?
  • Self-Management - Can you manage your time well? Do you own up to your mistakes?
  • Business/Customer Needs - Can you satisfy both the customer and business needs without hindering the quality of the other?

I myself think I am quite good at all of these skills, the one that lets me down however is the Problem Solving. I find it quite easy to identify and find different problems around the way that things are done, but when it comes to finding a way to simplify that problem so it no longer is a problem, that's where I start to struggle.
